Some of you have been asking for more info on the book coming out in June. Thanks so much for your interest.
It’s called Between Us Girls: Walks and Talks for Moms and Daughters and I wrote it because I needed it! My girls are growing up fast and there is so much I want to talk to them about. I needed a cheat sheet, so I made one, and it’s this book. You are welcome to use it too. It’s probably best for ages 7-13, but the topics are relevant for all of us so it can stretch in both directions.
The format is designed to take moms and daughters on a walk together: a walk that winds through the crazy terrain of girlhood, that is guided by the truths of scripture, and that offers places along the way to rest and talk. We all want to be close to our daughters but so often find ourselves lecturing, or correcting, or finally planning a special time together only to realize we aren’t really sure what to talk about.
This book includes 26 talks (called “walks” in the book to fit the theme) that moms and daughters can have together—so if you meet weekly, you’ll be done in six months, if you meet bi-weekly, you’ll finish in a year. (And five years is great too–we’re flexible around here.) In each “walk,” you’ll be reading and discussing what God’s Word says about a particular issue, asking each other real life questions (both silly and serious), sharing triumphs and struggles and goals, and making plans to help each other apply what you learn in the coming week. As we get to know God and his ways better, we’ll get to know each other better as well—just like friends do after they’ve hiked some great trails together.
No prep is needed. All you need to do is show up.
Well, come to think of it, show up with a snack.
Something gooey and chocolaty.
It will up your success rate significantly. I’ve done scientific studies with this on my own kids and it works wonders.
Thanks you for interest and support! I’ll keep you informed, and if you’re so inclined, here is the link to purchase the book:
